Tony Battle began his education in music, dancing and acting at Oklahoma City’s top arts magnet high school, Classen School of the Arts where his main emphasis of study in music theatre gained him a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma’s Music Theatre department. With his collegiate training Tony then came to the great state of Texas where he began his career teaching Hiphop dance choreography and master classes all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, and contracted by some of the best and talented entertainment production and DJ companies Dallas has to offer further building his reputation as one of the best performers to book for entertainment and party events in Dallas/Ft. Worth and across the U.S. His skills as a Dancer/DJ/Music Producer/ Singer and Song-writer have earned him the title “Jack of All Trades” in professional music production and entertainment. Working with various local Dallas native recording artist such as choreographer and music producer for artist Cherisse “Mr. Rebound” and choreographer for artist Jackie Leigh “No Romance”. Tony has written and produced many professional song mixes on a vast list of artists albums, mixtapes and an itunes artist himself has choreographed and performed in many of Dallas/Ft. Worths premier music venues and nightclubs further growing his student and client fanbase. 1. How would you describe your personality/style? My style flexes to mesh with the desired atmosphere of your event. I can stay very laid-back or ramp things up and be more outgoing depending on your needs. I personally like it best when people are having fun and dancing, so my natural inclination is to be at least moderately outgoing and play more uptempo stuff. I'm also not above getting out on the dancefloor and teaching people how to do the Cupid Shuffle or Electric Slide. 2. What is your favorite DJ memory? I recently threw on a double-whammy from my high school days with "Tootsie Roll" followed by "C'mon Ride It (The Train)". It was very entertaining watching 80+ people leave their seats to form a human dance train that wrapped around the entire room! 3. What is the funniest thing that ever happened at an event? I was once asked by a groom to don a "Where's Waldo?" costume and photo-bomb all pictures taken during his reception. It was funny seeing people's reactions when Waldo appeared out of nowhere to dance with them. 4. What was your proudest moment as a DJ? My proudest moment was after a show when a well-known DJ visited my booth just to tell me what a great job I had done. You never know who may be out in your crowd. 5. Why did you become a DJ? I'll take almost any excuse to be around music. I also have a live band and enjoy going out to hear other musicians and DJs perform, as well. 6. Why do you like performing at wedding dances? Newly married couples have just done something they've thought about their entire lives, and they've generally put a lot of effort into it. I enjoy helping them relax and celebrate their new life with an evening of music, dancing and fun games. 7. What is your favorite party song? This is a very tough question to answer, but I'll go with a three-way tie between "Do You Love Me?" by The Contours, "Into the Groove" by Madonna and "Pump it Up" by Joe Budden. 8. What sets you apart from other DJ's, or what are your specialties? I have a background in college radio and my taste ranges from the most mainstream pop music to some really off-the-wall stuff. I like to try new things and just kind of ride the momentum of whichever party I'm at. My specialties are probably '80s and '90s pop and hip-hop, and games such as the "Dance Craze" where I involve members of the audience. 9. What are some of your personal accomplishments? Over the years my band and I have been commissioned to write and record a number of original songs for various local radio stations such as SportsRadio 1310 The Ticket and 105.3 FM, as well as the Dallas Mavericks. Other big accomplishments have been producing and releasing two original full-length albums, graduating college, and working on a variety of different film projects. 10. List one or more fun facts about you most people don't know: • I played a high school principal in a comedic short film series called "Cool Wheels" (www.itscoolwheels.com). • I'm a huge Dallas Mavericks fan and my favorite athletes are Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash. • I own a copy of Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions" signed by Chuck D. • I love Zelda videogames and lots of game music. • My favorite restaurant is Spiral Diner.
